Artist's Comments

Keep in mind that I doodled this while I was reading the Let the right one in novel and had yet to see the movie, so I didn't go for a specific likeness with the actress who plays Eli... who was a VERY good casting choice anyway (seriously, practically the whole cast was). I just loved the whole Rubik's cube thing anyway. Perhaps because I had a Rubik's cube in the 80's, too :-D

Watercolor and biro pen on moleskine.

I don't know the character, but I like it very much. Soft and tender colours, very nice! :)

That movie was beautiful, I can only expect the book was as good. Great!

I have read the book and I think it's brilliant! John Ajvide Lindqvist is probably swedens best horror-writer  I like the way he shows us that humans can be more monstrous than the "true monsters", thinking of the guys who bully Oskar... The movie was good too, they had taken away most of the worst parts from the book, and put the focus Eli and Oskar's relationship...

This painting is great, I think you have captured the character in a very nice way! :sun:

Thank you! (and yay someone who read the book!) Honestly I liked the subplots that didn't make it to the film, but I also can see why the director cut them. I think that in a novel you can digress more, while some parts that I loved in book form (i.e. Eli's flashbacks) would have looked cheesy on film.

Glad you liked the sketch!

Beautiful! I've read the book (I need to see the movie) and I really like your design of Eli  Very femenine :)
